1. To Decrease Negative Thoughts and Actions.

  2. To Increase Positive Thoughts and Actions.

  3. To Observe the Tendency to React to Thoughts and Feelings.

In meditation practice we learn to rest in awareness. Meditation trains us to pay attention, to observe whatever is arising and dissolving in our experience, and to notice how we respond or react to a thought, feeling, or sensation. We purify the mind by observing any negativity in thoughts, speech, and actions without judgment. By simply being aware of negativity it allows the mind to purify itself. Is it really that simple? Yes, in meditation we allow awareness to do the work by not relying so much on the logical, conceptual, conditioned mind of thoughts and concepts. Mediation allows us to be aware that we are aware, to honor what we feel, and to notice how we respond.

Meditation means to observe with equanimity, the balanced calm mind free of attachment and aversion without getting too distracted by thoughts. With practice the mind becomes sharper, more sensitive, and less reactive and judgmental. By not reacting with attachment or aversion the mind naturally cultivates greater equanimity, the balanced wisdom mind of true-nature.

As we become more aware that we are aware, we gain the ability to let go of negativity that is out-of-integrity with true-nature, and to recognize that difficulties are the gateway of realization. Through meditation practice we are less reactive and more compassionate, which enhances the recognition of virtue, the loving, kind, and wisdom qualities of true-nature.
