Clear Light Books

Clear Light Books is the publishing site for Project Clear Light, the not-for-profit prison outreach organization offering the healing dharma teachings to incarcerated students nation-wide since 2004. Project Clear Light continues to work with incarcerates offering program support, a class in Contemplative Practice, and a correspondence course on the Lojong teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. In support of this work, we are now offering these booklets to the public.

An Essential Lojong

The Project Clear Lights’ Lojong Correspondence Course for incarcerated students began in 2006, working with over twenty five-hundred students. The Lojong teachings for the course is offered here as An Essential Lojong.

The profound Lojong (mind training or attitude transformation) teachings of Tibetan Buddhism is a collection of sixty pithy Slogans in Seven Parts taking us step by step through the essential tenants of Buddhist teachings and meditations, the deep insights of generations of masters allowing us to recognize in this lifetime the promise of spiritual awakening.

A Guide to Contemplative Practice

For thousands of years dedicated spiritual practitioners have known there’s a cure for the unnecessary suffering caused by conditioned delusion and confusion about who and how we are. The teachings and practices summarized in the precious Lojong teachings and the Guide to Contemplative Practice, allow anyone to live a life that’s whole, healthy, happy, and free.

The two booklets, An Essential Lojong and A Guide to Contemplative Practice, offer anyone of any faith or religious tradition with the willingness to study, contemplate, and meditate, the opportunity to recognize our true-nature of Wisdom and Compassion.

All purchases on this site go to support the prison outreach work of Project Clear Light

“ We are fundamentally awake

Fundamentally good

It’s not just our potential,

It’s who & how we are.

Of course, we hesitate to believe that,

Yet in our heart of hearts we know it’s true.

This is not a trick to cheer us up.

It’s true

The ancient teachings point out to us

How to realize this for ourselves.

Our unconditionalable nature of Wholeness & Goodness

remains fully intact,

it’s our True-Nature!

And because of that, we are here.

Your basic true-nature brought you here.”
